Chapter 1: A New Beginning

Original Appearance:

Dragon Ball Chapter 1: "Bloomers and the Monkey King".

Goku is the main protagonist of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball series and its sequels. A good-hearted and somewhat simple fellow, Goku is renowned for his fighting prowess in terms of sheer power, skill and tactical cunning.

History Edit

Goku first appeared on Nov. 20th, 1984 with the debut of the Dragon Ball manga. He begins life as an orphan being raised in the wilderness by an old man named Gohan, whom he accepted as his grandfather. After Gohan dies, a chance encounter with a teenage inventor named Bulma reveals to him that his grandfather's heirloom is one of the seven Dragon Balls, mystical items that can grant the user almost any wish once they are gathered. Drawn into the world of hunting the Dragon Balls, Goku begins to travel the planet to help Bulma search for them. Along the way, he begins to harness his potential as a martial artist and meets many new people, including his best friend Krillin and future rival/friend Piccolo.

After many years and adventures, Goku married his childhood friend Chi-Chi after winning the World Martial Arts Tournament for the first time and settled down to raise their child, Gohan. From here, the story (renamed Dragon Ball Z when released out of Japan) takes a serious turn as Goku's long-lost brother Raditz arrives, revealing that Goku is an alien called a Saiyan, a warrior race designed to conquer planets. Goku is then drawn into further conflicts, learning new skills along the way and pushing his power to levels never even dreamed of.

Role in Rakenzarn Edit

Goku serves as the Guildmaster of the Nutsy Guild, which he founded after leaving the Knights for unknown reasons. He seems to be a bit brighter than his manga incarnation, though he does have an aversion to doing the paperwork and finer details of guild running.

Kyuu unknowingly first encounters Goku during his first trip to the Nutsy Guild, where Goku asks him a series of questions and introduces the player to the Alignment system. Recognizing Kyuu's potential, he also pulls the strings to get him into the guild and acts as a sort of mission control to direct the brigade on where to hit next to dispel the plaque.
